LIFE PATH NUMBER

WHAT IS A LIFE PATH NUMBER?

One of the first numbers that those seeking deeper truth and meaning to life and themselves find is the life path number. Most people discover the term “life path number” from someone who has already done research in numerology. Perhaps that is the exact reason you are here!

Others learn about life path numbers by searching out numerology on Google for themselves. However you got here, you are ready and willing to learn about what a life path number is and how to find yours!

The life path number is the essence or base vibration of a person. The life path number also gives the architype or core nature of an individual.

HOW TO FIND YOUR LIFE PATH NUMBER

Your life path number is a number derived from your birthday. There are a few ways to derive this number depending on the theories and history you follow, though the most accepted and seemingly most accurate is the Pythagorean system.

In the Pythagorean system, the core life path numbers are listed below:

  • 1
  • 2
  • 3
  • 4
  • 5
  • 6
  • 7
  • 8
  • 9

There are also some interesting numbers beyond the basic 9 known as Master Numbers. These numbers are higher magnitudes of their core numbers and have higher potentials in life, but also higher stresses at times.

  • 11 (Master number) / 2 (core Life Path number)
  • 22 (Master number) / 4 (core Life Path number)
  • 33 (Master number) / 6 (core Life Path number)

Here are a few different examples of how to derive your life path number from your birthday using the Pythagorean method of reducing your month, day, and year before summing the total:

  • A basic life path number
    • June 10th, 1985
    • 0 + 6 = 6
    • 1 + 0 = 1
    • 1 + 9 + 8 + 5 = 23
    • 2 + 3 = 5
    • 6 + 1 + 5 = 12
    • Reduce 12 (1 + 2 = 3)
    • This birthday makes a 3 Life Path Number

When reducing your month, day, and year, if any of the individual sums equal a master number (11, 22, or 33), do NOT reduce the master number any further. Example below:

  • A basic life path number with a Master Number in its calculation
    • November 20th, 1984
    • November is 11 and a Master Number, so we do NOT do (1 + 1 = 2)
    • 2 + 0 = 2
    • 1 + 9 + 8 + 4 = 22
    • 22 is a Master Number, so we do NOT do (2 + 2 = 4)
    • 11 + 2 + 22 = 35
    • Reduce 35 (3 + 5 = 8)
    • This birthday makes an 8 Life Path Number

In some cases, the month, day, and year reductions can add to a Master Number. Again, the Master Number would not be reduced.

  • A life path number that sums to be a Master Number:
    • May 23rd, 1990
    • 0 + 5 = 5
    • 2 + 3 = 5
    • 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19
    • 1 + 9 = 10
    • 1 + 0 = 1
    • 5 + 5 + 1 = 11
    • 11 is a Master Number and a higher level of 2 Life Path Number

Beyond the basic Life Path Numbers and Master Numbers, some subscribe to the fact that there are Power Numbers. These numbers are repeating double numbers (like Master Numbers) that are beyond 33. Example of the Power Numbers:

  • 44
  • 55
  • 66
  • 77
  • 88
  • 99
